High Precision GPS Survey Device PCB Design and Build

Job ID: 34872520

Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD

Project Description:

Using schematics from a current GPS survey unit as a guideline, create a new schematic for a prototype survey unit. Much of the work will be simple "copy and paste" of schematics. Certain parts of the guideline schematics that are not needed should be removed. A serial port should be added for connection to older serial devices. The battery charge and protection circuit should be improved/designed so that two 3500mah batteries can be safely recharged in 4 hours. Support should be provided during the prototype building and testing phase. Once the prototype has been tested and approved, the schematic should be placed on a production PCB approximately 110mm in diameter. The U-BLOCK ZED-F9P should be placed on a PCB hat so future replacement with other GNSS modules does not affect the rest of the PCB. Support should be provided in the pre-production prototype build, assembly, and testing as well as the production and post-production phases.

Milestones:

Milestone 1) Create Schematic Drawing - 5 days

Milestone 2) Create design for prototype board including Gerber, BOM, Pick and Place files and select OLED screen for display - 10 days

Milestone 3) Assist with selecting BOM items and creating prototypes through JLCPCB or similar prototype PCB printing/assembling company. Provide support during the prototype testing phase. - 2 days + Testing Phase

Milestone 4) Assist Mechanical Engineering with determining PCB footprint. Fit prototype board schematic on to production PCB footprint; Separate ZED-F9P off into a PCB hat - 10 days

Milestone 5) Assist with creating pre-production prototype through JLCPCB or similar prototype PCB printing/assembling company. Provide support during the pre-production prototype testing phase. - 2 days + Testing Phase

After Milestone 5 is completed the designer will be transitioned to hourly wage while providing support during production and post-production phases- Indefinite Time Frame

Qualifications-
*Design should be in Eagle
*Designer should have 10 years experience in PCB design
*Electrical Engineering Degree
*Experience with GNSS modules, Bluetooth, Oled displays, Battery Protection and Charging circuits is a must
