Pi Zero Camera PCB & Case
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need a compact, single-board solution that combines a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, its camera module, an ADXL accelerometer, and a TP4056 charging circuit able to supply a steady 2 A for display unit. The board’s primary job is continuous video recording/streaming while remaining fully portable, so the power stage must keep the Pi and camera running for at least six hours on a 3 00 mAh Li-ion pack (or any cell that realistically meets that runtime).
Layout considerations
• Keep the Pi’s CSI ribbon connector, mini-HDMI, USB OTG, micro-SD slot and 40-pin header accessible.
• Route the ADXL close to the board edge to minimise vibration damping.
• Provide status LEDs for charge, power-good and recording.
• Respect the TP4056 thermal requirements and add proper battery protection (DW01A or similar).
• Include test pads that let me validate 5 V rail integrity and battery voltage without disassembling the unit.
Enclosure (optional but preferred)
A 3D-printed case that snaps together, with precise cut-outs for every exposed port plus a flush camera window for Pi Camera 2. Internal standoffs must align with the PCB mounting holes and leave airflow around the charger IC. Space of heat radiation on Raspberry Pi with aluminium pad and potentially a cooling mechanism in case it heats up a lot.
Deliverables
• Schematic (KiCad or Altium)
• PCB layout files and Gerbers ready for JLCPCB fabrication
• Full, labelled BOM with part numbers in stock today
• 3D step file of the board for enclosure work
• STL/STEP of the enclosure matching the board
Acceptance is a Pi-Zero-based prototype that records video continuously for six hours, charges safely over micro-USB, and fits perfectly inside the printed case without forcing any connector.
If you can also assemble and verify a first article before handing over production files, let me know—otherwise I’ll take care of assembly in-house.
