Create a build of materials file

I am looking for assistance in creating a Build of Materials (BOM) file for my electronics product. The BOM should include basic components only, and I am open to suggestions on the format or template to use. The level of detail required in the BOM is basic components, and not including suppliers, costs, or lead times.
