Compact VIM4 CAN Daughterboard Design

I’m extending my Khadas VIM4 with a plug-in daughterboard that replicates the open-source Canable Mk2 CAN-bus interface (https://github.com/makerbase-mks/CANable-MKS/tree/main).
The goal is straightforward: basic CAN-bus communication, nothing fancy, just a reliable clone that mates neatly with the VIM4’s 48-pin mezzanine.

Key electrical features
• Cantact-compatible transceiver section, laid out to match the reference design
• On-board solder pads (no connectors) for CAN H/L, and an optional 120 Ω termination resistor with solder pads
• A tiny USB 2.0 hub so the single USB lane on the 48-pin connector can be split—one branch goes to the STM32 on this board, the other is left free for future use

Mechanical constraints
The assembly must stay compact; height is limited by the VIM4 heatsink and neighbouring modules, so keep components low-profile and place all I/O as simple solder pads along the board edge.

What I need from you
1. Complete schematic and PCB layout delivered in either KiCad or Eagle (I have no strict preference—use whichever lets you work fastest).
2. Fabrication-ready Gerbers, drill files, and BOM.
3. 3D STEP model of the final board so I can verify the mechanical fit inside my enclosure.
4. Brief design notes describing part choices and any quirks of the USB hub or CAN transceiver implementation.

Acceptance
I’ll load the design into my CAD tool, check for clearance on the VIM4 stack-up, run standard ERC/DRC, and order a small prototype batch. Once I can power the board, see the STM32 enumerate via the hub, and pass CAN traffic through a 120 Ω-terminated loopback, the job is done.
