Compact USB-C Hub Development (KiCad/Prototype)
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Project: Compact USB-C Hub with Tested Prototype (KiCad Project + Production)
We are a robotics company in Korea, looking for a reliable partner to develop a compact USB hub. This is a first step project, and if successful, we plan to continue with longer-term contracts (including future Raspberry Pi Compute Module integration and Ethernet expansion).
Requirements:
Input: USB-C
Outputs: 2 × USB 3.0 ports + 2 × USB 2.0 ports
Deliverables:
Complete KiCad project files (schematic, PCB layout, BOM, Gerber, drill, pick-and-place)
Working prototype boards (minimal production run, fully tested for enumeration and throughput)
Design note explaining IC choice, specs, and rationale (considering future scalability/port expansion)
Board should be as compact as possible (around 30 × 100 × 20 mm is a reference).
Clear documentation of manufacturing process (where, how, options).
Good communication (regular updates via chat, schematic confirmation before layout).
Timeline & Budget:
Flexible: quality and working results are more important than strict deadlines.
Initial target: within 1 month, but open to extension if required for reliable testing and production.
Additional Notes:
We want IC recommendations with pros/cons so we can select the best fit.
Long-term collaboration is important for us, this project is a lightweight starting point.
