15 kW Bidirectional DC-DC Design

Budget: $10,000 – $20,000 USD

I am developing a 15 kW bidirectional stage that links a 400 V DC bus to a 0-330 V 40 ADC battery load. We want to use the Texas Instruments LM5171 controller.
The LM5171 spec is for 80VDC max and we need to protect the device accordingly.
Using isolated gate drivers and current, voltage sense as well.
We recommend to view the LM5171 evaluation board.


Deliverables
• Full schematic with LM5171 peripheral network, gate-drive, protections, start-up and fault logic
• Magnetics design (core selection, winding data, loss calculations) and verified thermal model
• PCB layout files (Altium) with clear creepage/clearance and low-noise routing practices
• Bill of Materials with distributor links and alternates for long-lead components
• Simulation files or bench data that confirm efficiency, loop stability, and bidirectional performance

I will review each milestone, provide rapid feedback, and handle prototype assembly once the design package is signed off.
