WooCommerce High-Risk Payment Gateway Setup
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I run a U.S.–based e-commerce store that sells alkyl nitrites—a product category most processors treat as high-risk. I’m looking to stand up a fully legal, card-presentable checkout that routes through a European acquiring bank, then plugs straight into my existing WooCommerce storefront.
Here’s where things currently stand:
• I do not yet have a non-U.S. acquiring partner. I’ll need your guidance on which European banks will actually underwrite this vertical, what their underwriting thresholds look like, and how best to navigate the application process.
• The site already runs on WooCommerce; the job is to integrate whichever gateway the chosen bank provides (or a third-party bridge such as Nuvei, Payvision, etc.) and validate that live transactions settle correctly.
Deliverables I need from you:
1. Shortlist and rationale for at least two European acquiring banks willing to board an alkyl-nitrite merchant.
2. End-to-end assistance securing the merchant account (paperwork, KYC, risk questionnaire).
3. Configuration of the corresponding payment gateway inside WooCommerce, including test mode, production keys, 3-D Secure if the bank requires it, and clear rollback instructions.
4. Proof-of-life: a successful €1 test transaction followed by a refund, with logs supplied.
5. Concise compliance memo listing the specific local rules that apply to this product and how the chosen processor addresses each one.
If you have prior experience placing high-risk merchants with European acquirers and know your way around WooCommerce hooks, REST API, and gateway plugins, I’d love to move quickly.
