I’m building an e-commerce website and need an experienced web developer to handle the payment gateway integration. The product catalog and shopping cart are already in place; what’s missing is the secure, seamless checkout that lets customers pay without friction.

Your task is to connect the store to a reliable gateway (Stripe, PayPal, or a comparable provider—I'm open to your recommendation) and ensure that:

• all card and wallet transactions are processed securely and comply with PCI-DSS
• order confirmations, payment status updates, and error handling work flawlessly
• the integration plays nicely with my existing front-end and back-end stack, keeping page speed intact
