Split Comfort Mattress Protector Design
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
I’m developing a two-piece mattress protector that solves the “one of us needs extra cushioning” problem without disturbing the other sleeper. The concept: a queen and king size protector made from soft, breathable bamboo fabric, sewn into left- and right-side panels that zip together at the base to secure the memory foam into the desired left or right panel . A 3-inch memory-foam topper—only half-width—can be slipped into either side and secured with an invisible zip so it stays perfectly in place. One edge of the foam will slope gently to meet the mattress surface, eliminating any ridge between partners. The whole build must remain hypoallergenic.
Here’s what I need from you:
• Full product design package: detailed drawings, pattern files, BOM with bamboo outer, internal waterproof membrane optional, and component specs for the concealed zipper system.
• CAD or 3D visualisations that show the angled foam profile and how it nests flush to the mattress.
• Manufacturing-ready tech pack, including queen and king measurements (Australian sizing), sewing construction notes, and packaging suggestions.
• Guidance on sourcing OEKO-TEX certified bamboo knit and high-density, CertiPUR-US memory foam in 3-inch sheets.
• Prototype oversight—clear instructions pictures/videos that a factory can follow to build the first samples.
I’ll review the tech pack for accuracy, fit, and ease of assembly; acceptance is based on a factory being able to quote and sample from your documents without further rework. If you have experience engineering zip-off toppers or split bedding, let’s talk.
