To successfully prepare, draft, and file a robust industrial design application with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) through our appointed patent attorney, ensuring comprehensive protection of our design and maximising the chances of smooth approval.



Phase 1: Preparation & Information Transfer

Objective: Provide all necessary information and assets to the attorney for drafting a strong application.

Deliverable Details:
1.1 Internal Review of Design Assets
• Conduct an internal review to ensure all visual representations and descriptions of the design are accurate and complete.

1.2 Information Transfer to Attorney
• Share all finalized assets, reference materials, and relevant background with the appointed attorney.

1.3 NDA & Confidentiality Confirmation
• Attorney will provide an NDA, reaffirming that all information shared for the purpose of this industrial design application will remain strictly confidential.



Phase 2: Drafting & Internal Review

Objective: Ensure the draft application is accurate, strategically strong, and error-free before filing.

Deliverable Details:
2.1 Drafting of Industrial Design Application
• Attorney prepares the draft application, including visual representations and any required descriptive elements in compliance with CIPO standards.

2.2 Internal Review & Feedback
• Internal team reviews the draft thoroughly to confirm accurate coverage of all design features and formal compliance with CIPO guidelines.

2.3 Final Edits & Attorney Adjustments
• Attorney incorporates feedback, performs final revisions, and prepares the application for filing.



Phase 3: Final Filing & Confirmation

Objective: File the finalized industrial design application with CIPO and secure official filing confirmation.

Deliverable Details:
3.1 Final Filing of Industrial Design Application
• Attorney files the application with CIPO, including all required documents and applicable government fees.

3.2 CIPO Filing Receipt & Confirmation
• Receive official filing confirmation and application number from CIPO; distribute internally for records and future tracking.

3.3 Ongoing Monitoring & Support Commitment
• Attorney to monitor CIPO communications and address any office actions or required responses during prosecution, as applicable.
