artist to paint image for a book cover
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m looking for an artist to create an image for a book cover—not someone to create the cover—just the painting. This is a teen drama and adventure novel. Even though this book takes place in the present, I want a pulp noir painting for the cover.
Here is the action in the painting: 15-year-olds Tom and Megan are in danger and are running through the streets of NYC holding hands.
Tom is skinny, small, and yet a bit of a heartthrob, think young Michael J. Fox. He is a total prep, wearing a blazer and necktie.
Megan is Goth, I mean really Goth; she is super skinny, her face painted pure white, and wears black lipstick. She's attractive, nice, and a bit sexy. I have attached a Dreamtime photo that I purchased of a girl that closely resembles her, however, Megan has white makeup over her face like Wednesday from the Addams Family.
They are running away from two preppy students who are much larger (think football jock size).
Tom is completely serious as if running to save their lives. Megan, on the other hand, seems to be enjoying the excitement.
When I say a pulp noir for the covers, I’m thinking of Stephen King’s covers for Joyland and Later. I want to sell excitement and danger. I also want a subtle sexiness—the book is a teen novel so I don’t want to push it too far with the sex but do want it to walk up to the line of being inappropriate.
