Pressure-Relief Cardboard Box Design
Budget: $250 – $1,000 USD
I need a practical yet manufacturable shipping box for a chemical substance that might build internal pressure during transit. Cardboard is my preferred material, but the structure must safely vent or equalise pressure so the package never ruptures while on a truck or plane. The goal is safe transport, not display, so durability, compliance with common UN/IATA guidelines, and clear labelling areas all matter more than shelf appeal.
What I expect from you
• A cardboard-based structural concept that incorporates a passive pressure-relief feature (e.g., scored burst panels, micro vents, one-way membrane, or any other idea you can justify).
• CAD drawings and dielines ready for corrugator/box plant production.
• Material specs (board grade, coatings, vent materials) and assembly instructions.
• A brief validation plan outlining how the design can be tested for pressure release and stacking strength.
I’m open to creative engineering solutions as long as the finished design can be produced at scale with standard converting equipment. Let me know what similar work you have done and how quickly you could deliver the concept and drawings.
