Fruit Packaging Material Consultation

I’m building a direct-to-consumer service that ships everything from citrus and berries to tropical produce, and I need an experienced eye to guide my choice of primary and secondary packaging. All recommendations must be food-safe and, just as importantly, keep unit costs lean so the numbers still make sense after courier fees.

What I’d like from you
• An item-by-item material shortlist (trays, inserts, outer cartons, breathable films, cushioning, etc.) that suits mixed fruit loads sent via online delivery services.
• A concise matrix comparing at least three viable options on cost per unit, protective performance, shelf-life impact and ease of sourcing.
• Supplier or converter suggestions that can meet small to medium MOQs.
• Clear handling and packing guidelines that my fulfilment team can follow.

Extra points if you can call out biodegradable or recycled alternatives that don’t blow up the budget, and highlight any quick wins—like vent patterns or absorbent pads—that improve arrival quality. A simple PDF or slide deck is fine; I just need enough detail to make an informed purchasing decision and move straight into samples and trials.
