Old Book Digitization to PDF

Job ID: 40464081

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I have a fragile, out-of-print book that I want preserved as a high-quality, fully searchable PDF. Every page—text, tables, photographs, illustrations—must appear exactly as it does in print, but with the added convenience of selectable, copyable text thanks to accurate OCR.

Scope of work
• Scan or photograph each page at 300 dpi or higher, straighten and clean as needed, then compile the images in correct order.
• Run reliable OCR (Adobe, ABBYY, Tesseract—your choice) so the PDF opens with a live text layer that preserves original fonts and layout.
• Embed every illustration and photo from the physical book at equal or better resolution, retaining original pagination and captions.

Deliverables
1. A single, lightweight yet high-resolution PDF containing all pages, images, and text layers.
2. (Optional but appreciated) A folder with the raw, uncompressed scans for archival purposes.

Acceptance check
I will verify a small sample of pages for image clarity, faithful layout reproduction, and error-free OCR before approving the full file. Once that passes, you hand over the finished PDF and any raw scans.

If you have prior experience digitising vintage books or delicate materials, mention the tools and methods you prefer so I know the text and illustrations will be handled with care.
