Digitize Personal Stories & Essays
Budget: £18 – £36 GBP
I have a collection of printed stories and essays that I want to bring into the digital world so I can easily search, back-up, and reference them whenever inspiration strikes. The pages are all hard-copy right now, so the first step is high-quality scanning. Once each page is captured, I’d like the files combined into clearly named PDFs—and, where possible, run through OCR so the text is fully searchable.
Accuracy of the scans matters to me: crisp images, straight pages, no clipped margins, and faithful colour reproduction of any illustrations or annotations. I’ll provide the manuscripts well-organised by envelope; you simply keep that order in the final file names and folder structure. A short sample batch will serve as our test run; once that’s approved, you can move on to the remaining pages.
Deliverables
• High-resolution PDF (300 dpi or better) for every story or essay
• Searchable text layer via OCR
• Consistent file-naming scheme that mirrors my original order
• A simple index (spreadsheet or text file) listing title, page count, and file name
If you have access to a reliable flat-bed or feed scanner and tools such as Adobe Acrobat, ABBYY FineReader, or similar, I’m ready to ship the pages and get started right away.
