Job Description
We are developing a WordPress plugin that integrates with the OpenAI API to scan and improve SEO metadata across posts and pages. The plugin includes rollback functionality, logging, and support for bulk processing via CRON. It is built using PSR-4, Composer, and adheres to WordPress Coding Standards (WPCS).
We are seeking a part-time code reviewer/QA expert to independently evaluate each plugin milestone submitted by our dev team and ensure that all deliverables meet security, performance, and usability standards.
This is not a development role — you will act as an external QA authority to help ensure quality and readiness throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Review GitHub pull requests and plugin files at each milestone
Test plugin features (admin UI, rollback logic, OpenAI integration)
Validate adherence to PHP/WordPress best practices (OOP, PSR-4, nonces, etc.)
Assess the logging and audit trail implementation
Submit inline comments on GitHub and complete a written checklist-based review
Clearly explain any issues found or confirm if all tests pass
QA Checklist – To Be Completed After Each Review
Review Category Status (Pass/Fail) Comments (Required)
Plugin activates without error
Admin UI loads without conflict
Rollback UI shows before/after previews
Rollback action reverts changes correctly
Logging DB table stores change history
Code follows PSR-4 & WPCS
API key handled securely (wp-config or ENV)
OpenAI prompt is efficient & retry logic works
Batch/CRON logic is scalable
PHPUnit tests (if any) pass
All new functions/classes documented
GitHub comments submitted
Summary opinion of milestone quality 1–10 Score
The reviewer must explain any issues found and suggest corrections. If no issues are found, a brief justification is still expected.
Qualifications
5+ years of WordPress plugin development or code review experience
Strong knowledge of PHP (OOP), Composer, WordPress hooks/filters, and security practices
Familiarity with OpenAI API or similar external APIs is a plus
Fluent with GitHub for reviewing and commenting on code
Strong written communication skills
Time Commitment & Budget
5 to 10 hours per month
Fixed $150/month, paid weekly ($37.50 per week)
Expected commitment: 1 review cycle per milestone (1–2 per month)
