Open Journal Systems (OJS) Developer Needed
Budget: $750 – $1,500 CAD
We are looking for an experienced developer to build a new academic journal website using Open Journal Systems (OJS).
We are setting up a new journal portal and need a developer familiar with OJS installation, customization, and configuration to create a clean, functional, and professional site for hosting our journals and managing the editorial workflow.
Scope of Work
Install and configure the latest stable version of OJS on our hosting server
Set up initial journal structure (Home page, Journal pages, Editorial Team, About, Submission Guidelines, Contact, etc.)
Customize the OJS theme to match ACTA Press branding (logo, colors, fonts, layout)
Configure core OJS workflows (user roles, submission, peer review, copyediting, publishing)
Implement essential plugins (DOI, Crossref, ORCID, etc.)
Ensure responsive design and basic SEO optimization
Provide documentation for site maintenance and user training
Requirements
Proven experience with OJS (portfolio or live site links required)
Familiarity with PHP, MySQL, and server setup
Strong front-end skills (HTML, CSS) for theme customization
Knowledge of scholarly publishing workflows
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Deliverables
Fully functioning OJS website for ACTA Press
Customized branding and theme
Configured editorial workflow and essential plugins
Administrator documentation and training handover
