Open Journal System Upgrade

Job ID: 40049039

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

My journal is still running on Open Journal Systems 3.0 and I’m ready to move up to 3.5 (or whatever the latest stable release is), but I want the transition to be invisible to readers and editors. The current theme must remain exactly as it is, and I only use the default plugins that ship with OJS—no custom code or additional features are involved, and I’d like to keep it that way.

I will provide full server access (SSH + cPanel) along with a staging copy of the site. The upgrade should be completed on the staging environment first, thoroughly tested, and then rolled out to production without downtime.

Deliverables
• Verified backup of files + database before any changes
• Clean upgrade to OJS 3.5/latest, including database migrations
• Existing theme preserved with no visual or functional regressions
• Default plugins confirmed working post-upgrade
• Brief hand-over report summarising steps, issues (if any), and rollback instructions

PHP, MySQL, and OJS upgrade experience are essential; familiarity with server-level tweaks (permissions, PHP extensions, cron tasks) will speed the process.
