OPENCART order process

hi i need someone who is skilled with OPENCART to help me
basically the MISSING orders are going into the database due to abandoned carts etc.
i only want orders to be added to the database AFTER payment has been taken or if they choose CASH then complete the order i,e they go to the thank you page . just now my db is full of missing orders.
this happens when a user starts an order in a session and doesnt finish it then comes back or goes to naother device to finish it etc. i dont want any orders being added to db this way. it causes a big confusion in the system. basically after order is confirmed and payment taken (excpet if cash) they should go to the thank you page and an email will go to shop and order get added to db.
