Memoir painting

My father- in- law has a memory in his head that he will never forget, but regrets not having a camera there for it. It’s of a time when his tall father, who was elderly and kind of decrepit, was holding the hand of his little 1 year old grandson on a dock with a ship behind it. I can get a lot more details but that is just the basis of it right now. I’m looking for not a recreation of the moment but a kind of memoir to it. My FIL loves impressionistic paintings and would love this!
