Optimizing 3D Packing with Odoo Integration

Description:
We are an Odoo implementation partner working with a client in the import/export industry dealing with mechanical parts. These parts are shipped from Asia to EU Country via sea freight (containers). To streamline their operations and improve accuracy in shipping cost calculation, we are looking to develop or integrate a tool that can process 3D product files (.stp or .step) and help calculate optimal packing configurations.

Project Overview:
Our client wants to:
Upload STEP files of mechanical parts.
Define carton box sizes (multiple predefined sizes).
Calculate how many parts can fit into a box using the actual 3D geometry (not just bounding box approximation).
Visualize the 3D arrangement of parts inside the box.
Calculate packing into pallet (e.g., EU standard pallet) and then into container (20ft, 40ft).
Handle large order volumes (e.g., 10K, 40K, 60K pcs per product).
Integrate results into the Odoo ERP system (preferably through an API or connector).

Background Effort:
We have already investigated this requirement internally and explored possible solutions, including CAD-based packing algorithms and shape-fitting logic. However, we haven't been successful in achieving the required precision and 3D visualization. We are now looking for an expert who can take this forward and deliver a working, integrated solution.

Key Requirements:
Experience with 3D CAD processing, ideally STEP/STP file handling.
Ability to perform advanced packing optimization based on real shape (not bounding box).
Experience with or knowledge of palletization and containerization standards.
Optional but preferred: Odoo integration experience (v14+).
Output should include:
Number of items per box based on actual 3D geometry
Number of boxes per pallet
Number of pallets per container
3D visualization of arrangement for the Box(for user confirmation )





Deliverables:
Working solution/tool (web-based or standalone)
Integration API or connector with Odoo
3D visualization module
Documentation and basic user manual
Support for initial deployment
