**Project Description:**
I am seeking an experienced system administrator with expertise in Ubuntu, Docker, Mosquitto MQTT broker, and Node.js to perform an urgent system upgrade and maintenance task on a production server. The server has been running reliably for three years but is now exhibiting stability issues and can no longer be updated or managed effectively.
**Scope of Work:**
1. **System Diagnosis:**
- Assess the current server environment for stability issues.
- Identify causes for the inability to perform system updates and maintenance tasks.
2. **System Upgrade:**
- Upgrade the existing Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS system to the latest Ubuntu LTS version.
- Ensure that the upgrade process maintains all existing applications and services, including two Mosquitto MQTT brokers (production and development) and a Node.js script that logs data to CSV files.
3. **Data Integrity and Backup:**
- Ensure all existing data, configurations, and services remain intact post-upgrade.
- Employ a strategy that includes backing up current configurations and data before proceeding with the upgrade.
4. **Service Optimization:**
- Implement a solution for managing Mosquitto logs that have grown significantly large.
- Set up a Cron job or equivalent to automate the truncation or rotation of logs to prevent future overgrowth.
5. **Security Checks:**
- Perform a security audit post-upgrade to ensure the system is secure.
- Apply best practices to secure the server against potential vulnerabilities.
6. **Documentation:**
- Provide detailed documentation of all changes made, including any new configurations or scripts implemented.
