SYNC and AWAIT in a node.js Server

I have a node.js file that needs to call each step when the one about is completed. The js file is loaded from the web config and needs to produce a HTTP response when the task is completed. I'm open to having the file restructured but it must do the process. I'm not sure where I need to put the SYNC since the awaits work when ran separately as a standard node.js file.
