React/Node.js Developer for LiveKit Integration

Job ID: 39048502

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

We are seeking a skilled and motivated developer to integrate LiveKit into our React and Node.js-based website, which is backed by a PostgreSQL database. This integration will enable automated updates on our platform, leveraging cutting-edge voice and video agent technology.

About LiveKit

LiveKit empowers developers to rapidly deploy voice and video agents within their applications. Built with Open Source SDKs and running on LiveKit's real-time global infrastructure, LiveKit enables:

- Natural AI Conversations: Create AI agents that interact seamlessly in natural language.
- Flexible AI Design: Integrate voice-to-voice AI with leading models from OpenAI, Cartesia, Deepgram, ElevenLabs, and Google.
- Low Latency and Scalability: Deliver ultra-low latency experiences across desktop, mobile, and telephone platforms.
- Open Source Standards: Built on the LiveKit Agents framework, supporting WebRTC for real-time inference.
- Rapid Deployment: Launch quickly and scale effortlessly with LiveKit's global WebRTC infrastructure.

Features:
- Modular architecture for easy switching between LLMs and voice models.
- Multi-turn context management with tool calling and vision input.
- Response times as low as 100ms for voice-to-voice interactions.
- Advanced features such as interruption handling, echo cancellation, noise reduction, and phrase endpointing.
- Detailed metrics and observability for each media stream.

## Responsibilities

1. LiveKit Integration:
- Integrate LiveKit into the website to enable automated text updates.
- Implement API interactions and configure agents to work seamlessly with the existing backend.

2. Frontend Adaptation:
- Update the Test Tab in `AssistantCard.tsx` to include a call interface:
- Ensure the mic icon initiates calls and reflects an active state (e.g., changes color or transforms into an "end call" icon).
- Display real-time streaming text of conversations in the designated area during calls.

3. Backend Implementation:
- Write server-side logic in Node.js to interact with LiveKit's API.
- Ensure data is fetched, updated, and stored efficiently in the PostgreSQL database[1][4].

4. Testing and Debugging:
- Validate the call interface functionality and the agent's real-time interaction.
- Ensure seamless streaming and proper synchronization with the website's existing features].

5. Non-Disruption Guarantee:
- Ensure the integration does not affect existing functionalities in the AssistantCard, such as LLM models, voice tools, or UI layouts.

6. Documentation:
- Document the integration process, including configurations, endpoints, and usage instructions.

## Qualifications

- Technical Expertise:
- Strong proficiency in React.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs (experience with LiveKit is a plus).
- Familiarity with real-time voice/video processing and WebRTC technologies[1][10].

- Skills:
- Knowledge of Open Source frameworks like LiveKit Agents and WebRTC standards[1][4].
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with modular architectures and advanced AI features like multi-turn context management and noise reduction.

- Bonus:
- Experience with any of LiveKit's supported partners (e.g., OpenAI, Deepgram, ElevenLabs).
- Previous work on voice AI products or real-time media applications[10].

The LiveKit integration is expected to be completed within 1-2 weeks. The priority is to deploy the LiveKit integration on our website. The conversation interface should include real-time transcription of voice interactions.
