Project Overview:
I am looking for an experienced backend developer to work with me live for 3 hours to set up a serverless API on Vercel that integrates OpenAI’s API with Squarespace.
The goal is to guide me step-by-step as we build a backend that:
Processes user inputs from a Squarespace form
Uses OpenAI (GPT-4) to generate structured visa-related memos
References predefined PDF templates (stored securely)
Allows file uploads for additional context
Generates and delivers the final document as a downloadable PDF
I want this to be an interactive session where I follow along, ask questions, and learn while implementing the setup with your guidance.
What We Will Do Together:
✅ Set Up Vercel for Serverless Deployment
Help me create a new Vercel project and deploy a Node.js API.
Ensure secure API key handling for OpenAI.
✅ Develop the Backend API (Node.js & Express)
Guide me in setting up Express.js and connecting it to OpenAI API.
Implement an endpoint to accept user inputs from Squarespace.
Configure Multer.js to allow users to upload documents.
✅ Integrate Predefined PDF Templates
Store 3 reference PDFs (Petitioner Form, Foreign Employer Form, Multiple Employer Form).
Modify the API to ensure OpenAI refers to the correct template when generating responses.
Guide me in storing the templates securely (Google Drive, AWS S3, or another recommended method).
✅ Generate & Deliver Final Document as a PDF
Format AI-generated text into a structured, properly formatted PDF.
Show me how to include an uploaded image/PDF as a header.
Ensure the document is downloadable by the user.
✅ Connect the API to Squarespace
Walk me through how to make a POST request from Squarespace’s form to the API.
Ensure the API securely handles inputs and file uploads.
Test the complete workflow together.
