Optimize and Fix Issues in Fullstack Chat Application (React, Node.js, MongoDB).

Description:
I have a chat application built with React (frontend), Node.js (backend), MongoDB, and Socket.IO. The application is deployed and mostly functional, but there are several issues and areas for improvement. I need an experienced fullstack developer to address these problems and optimize the application for a smooth user experience.
Current Issues:
1. The general chat room does not load after login; users are not redirected automatically to the default chat room.
2. The list of connected users does not display correctly. Clicking on a user sometimes leads to a blank page.
3. Uploading files and setting user avatars is not working as expected.
4. General UI improvements are needed for better usability.
5. Ensure the frontend and backend communication is seamless, including handling CORS and secure API requests.
6. Fix any other bugs or inconsistencies found during the review process.
Tasks:
• Debug and fix the above issues.
• Optimize the codebase for better performance and maintainability.
• Add any small enhancements or features that could improve the overall experience.
• Test the application thoroughly to ensure it works flawlessly on both the frontend and backend.
Requirements:
• Strong experience with React.js, Node.js, Express, Socket.IO, and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with hosting on Ubuntu/Linux servers with Apache and SSL configurations.
• Knowledge of best practices for CORS handling and secure API connections.
• Ability to communicate clearly and provide updates on progress.
Deliverables:
• A fully functional and optimized chat application.
• Documentation of the changes made and instructions for deploying updates.
• Support for any issues that arise during initial testing after fixes are deployed.
Timeline:
I need this completed as soon as possible. Please provide an estimated time to deliver the fixes.

The application is currently hosted on a server without a control panel (SSH access only). I will provide all necessary credentials and access.
