NodeJS & FFMPEG for Full HLS Stream Archiving and Management
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We are looking to automate the process of downloading HLS streams from our own CDN service (Bunney.net) via the manifest file URLs and then uploading all stream quality versions of each stream to Wasabi S3 storage (and updating the manifest file appropriately to the new URLs). An API endpoint needs to be created for our app to interface with this system.
Ideal Skills:
- Proficient in NodeJS
- Experience with FFMPEG
- Familiarity with S3 storage services
- Ability to create API endpoints
- Knowledge of working with HLS streams and manifest files
Tasks to be completed:
- Develop a NodeJS instance on a Digital Ocean droplet that can automate the download of HLS streams from manifest file URLs
- Use FFMPEG to upload ALL STREAM QUALITY VERSIONS to Wasabi S3 storage
- Update the manifest file accordingly
- Implement an API endpoint for our Bubble web-app to manage and track each of these steps
Communication:
- Needs to be able to attend Zoom meetings as needed.
- Fluent english skills are required.
A step by step workflow diagram can be provided in direct message.
Various NPM packages that we have researched could simplify the work but we have not found one that directly solves this issue of downloading all qualities of an HLS stream in a simple way.
