Network probe/server project
Budget: €1,500 – €3,000 EUR
This project aims to develop a “network sensor” and control server based on the already available prototype code. Prototype code of the network sensor and control server components have already been developed in NodeJS. The source code of these prototypes will be shared with the contractor of this project once the project is kicked off. The control server will invoke two one REST API and one GraphQL API when processing the results submitted by the network sensors.
Major Requirement
- The sensor app will run on a Linux based virtual appliance and a) collect local network events b) perform network scans. It posts these events and scan the results to the control server over a secure (TLS) Web-Socket connection.
- The sensor app should be able to re-connect automatically in case of connection loss
- The control server should authenticate sensors using a shared secret value that is stored in DB and appliance
- The sensor software should be able to register itself with the server at the appliance provisioning time
- The control server should have an accounting sub-system that tracks and limits number of devices detected by the network sensor
Developer Selection process
A test assignment to be completed in 3 to 4 hours will be given to the interested developers. Once, it was completed on time with the acceptable code quality, the developer will be provided with the detailed project development document and demo video of the current portal for time and costs estimation. The expected completion time of this project is approximately one person month.
