MERN stack developer

Working on a simple multiplayer choose your own adventure game. I was able to teach myself some basic node and have reading and writing to MongoDB working, but having a harder time wrapping my head around coding a front end for all of this. I'm honestly not sure how much effort this will take, especially since I can manage bits and pieces. Mostly I'm looking for help putting all the bits and pieces together as well as helping with the best practices that I am going to miss as a novice.
