We are seeking an experienced Server Administrator / DevOps Engineer to manage the complete migration of our Node.js application from IONOS to WHC (Web Hosting Canada).
The project includes deploying our application, restoring the database, configuring the new hosting environment, and ensuring seamless functionality post-migration.

Backend: Node.js
Frontend: Bootstrap & Pug
Database: SQL backup provided

Key Responsibilities
1. Server Setup on WHC
Configure the new WHC hosting environment
Install Node.js, NPM, and PM2 (or WHC Node App Manager)
Set up SSH/SFTP access
Ensure proper file permissions and secure directory structure
2. Application Deployment
Clone our GitHub repository onto the server
Install dependencies (npm install)
Configure environment variables (.env)
Ensure the Node.js application builds and runs correctly
3. Database Configuration & Restoration
Create a new database on WHC (new DB name, user, password)
Import the provided SQL backup
Update the application configuration to connect to the new database
Validate database connectivity and functionality
4. Process Management
Configure PM2 or WHC App Manager
Ensure the application runs continuously (24/7 uptime)
Enable auto-restart on crashes and server reboots
5. Domain & DNS Setup
Point the domain to the WHC server
Update A records or nameservers as needed
Ensure no downtime during DNS propagation
6. SSL Configuration
Install / activate WHC’s AutoSSL
Enforce full HTTPS across the site
7. Reverse Proxy Configuration
Configure Apache or NGINX to route traffic to the Node.js application port
Ensure proper handling of routes, static files, and redirects
8. Email Setup (WHC Hosting)
Recreate email accounts )
Update MX and DNS records
Ensure email sending/receiving is fully functional
9. Backup & Security
Enable automated daily backups (files + database)
Apply server hardening and firewall rules
Verify file permissions and remove unnecessary access
Perform basic vulnerability and malware checks
10. Final Testing & Quality Assurance
Test all pages and core functionality
Validate login, forms, and database operations
Verify API routes and any payment or user-related flows
Test email functionality, if applicable
11. Documentation Delivery
The final handover should include:
Server IP and access credentials
Database credentials and settings
PM2 / process management commands
Instructions for restarting and managing the Node app
Backup and recovery procedures
Summary of all changes made

Professional Requirements
Proven experience migrating Node.js applications
Strong Linux server and cPanel/WHC knowledge
Expertise with MySQL/MariaDB configuration
Experience with SSL, DNS, and reverse proxies
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Ability to deliver a stable, fully tested deployment
