Full-Stack Developer Needed to Upgrade Babysitter Hiring Platform

We have an existing Babysitter Hiring website originally built with CodeIgniter (PHP) since 2017. While our current backend uses PHP and CodeIgniter, we are planning a major upgrade or a complete rebuild for improved performance, modern technology, and future scalability.

Option 1: Upgrade and Modernize PHP Backend

- Upgrade the current PHP backend to full compatibility with the latest PHP version (PHP 8.x+).
- Refactor legacy CodeIgniter codebase for modern PHP standards and best practices.
- Recreate corrupted database tables from model files and improve database schema management.
- Update integration points such as Session management, authentication libraries, payment (Stripe subscriptions), and email service (migrating from SMTP to SendGrid).
- Update frontend views from Bootstrap 3 to the latest Bootstrap or modern UI framework.

Option 2: Rebuild Using React/Next.js Frontend and Node.js/Next.js Backend

- Develop a modern React/Next.js frontend for fast, responsive user experience.
- Build a scalable backend API using Node.js with Next.js (API routes or serverless functions).
- Implement user authentication, session management, subscription payments (Stripe), and email notifications (SendGrid).
- Design and migrate the existing database schema to a modern structure compatible with the new backend.
- Ensure maintainable, well-documented, and tested codebase.

Key Requirements:

- For PHP upgrade: Strong expertise with PHP 8+ and CodeIgniter framework.
- For rebuild: Proficiency in React, Next.js, and Node.js backend development.
- Experience with database design, configuration, and migration.
- Ability to refactor or rewrite legacy systems following modern development practices.
- Familiarity with Stripe API for subscription payments and SendGrid for email services.
- Strong debugging, testing, and documentation skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
