Upgrade Next.js Chatbot with OpenAI Assistant API

Project Overview: We are upgrading our Vercel Next.js AI chatbot to integrate with the OpenAI Assistant API. This involves transitioning from the 'useChat' utility to the 'experimental_useAssistant' utility in the Vercel AI SDK (documentation here: https://sdk.vercel.ai/docs/api-reference/use-assistant).
Current Implementation: Our chatbot is based on this Vercel AI Chatbot project: https://github.com/vercel/ai-chatbot. It uses Next.js app router, Vercel AI SDK for chat UI, and Vercel KV for chat history and session management.
Required Features Post-Update:
- Full integration with OpenAI Assistant API.
- The project must retain the current architecture and integration with Vercel KV database.
- The project must retain all existing features, including user authentication, chat history management, rate limiting, and session storage.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proficient in Next.js and Vercel AI SDK.
- Experienced with OpenAI APIs, ideally including the OpenAI Assistant API.
Project Deadline: Complete and fully-functional deliverable within three days of job acceptance.
End Goal: A tested, deployable version of the chatbot utilising the OpenAI Assistant API, with all current functionalities intact.
