React & Next.js Storefront Optimization

Job ID: 40568566

Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 USD

Role: Senior React & Next.js Developer
Project: Storefront Optimization & Modernization
Timeline: 6 Weeks
Total Budget: $9,000 (Fixed/Capped)

PROJECT OVERVIEW
The objective of this project is to streamline and optimize the existing e-commerce frontend architecture. The developer will focus on refactoring core client-side components, improving page load speeds, and ensuring a seamless user experience across the primary storefront funnels. This is a streamlined initiative aimed at high-impact performance gains and clean component architecture within a condensed timeframe.

REVISED SCOPE OF WORK & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Next.js Core Optimization:
Refactor and optimize the existing application structure, focusing on clean directory layouts and efficient component reusability.
Establish lightweight patterns for data fetching, utilizing client-side state management solutions such as Zustand where global state is strictly necessary.

Rendering & SEO Performance:
Configure optimized Server-Side Rendering and Incremental Static Regeneration for product listing and detail pages to enhance search engine visibility and reduce initial load times.

Frontend Performance Engineering:
Implement code-splitting, tree-shaking, and asset optimization techniques to improve baseline loading metrics. The primary target is to achieve and sustain a mobile Lighthouse performance score of 85+ on core commercial pages.

Monitoring & Integration:
Integrate lightweight performance tracking to monitor core web vitals, specifically addressing Layout Shifts and Largest Contentful Paint.
Connect the front-end components smoothly with the provided backend API endpoints.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CAPACITY ALLOCATION

Weeks 1 - 2: Architecture Audit & Core Setup
Conduct a targeted review of the current codebase, set up the optimized Next.js repository framework, and implement basic routing and state patterns.
Allocation: 20 hours per week

Weeks 3 - 4: Component Refactoring & API Integration
Migrate and optimize key commercial views including product grids and the checkout funnel. Bind frontend components to backend API services.
Allocation: 25 hours per week

Weeks 5 - 6: Performance Tuning, Testing & Handover
Execute bundle analysis, eliminate blocking scripts, finalize performance optimization to meet target metrics, and deliver comprehensive technical hand-off documentation.
Allocation: 20 hours per week

DELIVERY AND COMPLIANCE GATES

Performance Threshold: Code changes must not degrade the baseline performance scores. Automated checks will evaluate asset sizes before deployment.

Code Quality: All deliverables must pass standard linting, formatting rules, and strict TypeScript compilation checks.

Review Process: Code must undergo a peer-review protocol within the development branch before being integrated into the main production branch.

COMPENSATION & BILLING

Total Allocation: 130 hours maximum across the 6-week timeline.

Billing Method: Verified time tracking through the platform escrow system up to the strict project ceiling of $9,000.
