React Multiplayer Strategy Game Development

Job ID: 40519798

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m building a real-time, multiplayer strategy game that must run smoothly in any modern browser and as a mobile web app. The front-end stack is already set: React, NextJS for routing/server-side rendering, and TailwindCSS for UI.

Core gameplay revolves around quick tactical decisions made against live opponents, so low-latency communication is critical. I need a developer who can:

• Architect the real-time layer (WebSockets or a comparable solution) for synchronous play.
• Implement in-game chat that feels native on both phone and desktop.
• Handle matchmaking, room/lobby logic, and basic reconnection support.
• Build clean, responsive interfaces in TailwindCSS that scale from small screens to large monitors.
• Deliver well-structured, documented code that I can extend with new units, maps, and balance tweaks.

Acceptance criteria
1. A working web build hosted on a NextJS deployment target (Vercel preferred) showing multiplayer matches with at least two connected players.
2. Mobile browsers load the same build with no layout breaks and consistent touch controls.
3. Chat window, mute/block functions, and message persistence during a session.
4. Source code in a Git repository with setup instructions and clear separation of client, server, and shared logic.

If you have prior examples of real-time games or chat-driven apps in React/Next, please include them—seeing that experience will speed up shortlisting.
