NextJS Website Updates Specialist

About the position
Big Digital is seeking a skilled freelancer to implement updates and enhancements to our website built on the Next.js framework. A key part of this engagement includes working with Sanity CMS and supporting our migration away from Directus. The ideal candidate has strong Next.js experience, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to ship reliable improvements while collaborating closely with an internal team.

What you’ll achieve
- Update and enhance website features using Next.js (App Router and/or Pages Router depending on the area).
- Implement and extend Sanity CMS content models/schemas and integrations within the Next.js site.
- Support migration from Directus to Sanity, including:
Mapping existing Directus collections to Sanity document types
Planning and executing content export/import
Validating data integrity and content parity post-migration
- Ensure cross-browser and responsive compatibility across devices.
- Conduct testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues (performance, rendering, content, and build/deploy).
- Provide regular progress updates plus clear documentation of changes (migration notes, content model decisions, and implementation details).

Ideal experience (optional but recommended section)
- Strong experience shipping production sites with Next.js
- Hands-on CMS work with Sanity (schemas, GROQ, content modeling, Studio configuration)
- Proven experience with CMS migrations (Directus → Sanity or similar headless CMS transitions)
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and deployment platforms (e.g., Vercel)
