Next.js Real Estate Backend Maintenance
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I run a live real-estate platform built with Next.js and hosted on DigitalOcean. The frontend is already stable; what I need now is a dependable developer who can keep the backend running smoothly and extend it with new API integrations for third-party property listings.
Your core responsibility will be to wire up and maintain those external listing feeds so that new properties flow into our database automatically, stay in sync, and display without delay. The current codebase is a clean Next.js/Node setup with a PostgreSQL database and a small Redis cache. I’ll give you access to a private Git repository and staging server; all work is deployed via GitHub Actions to DigitalOcean droplets.
I’m looking for:
• Hands-on experience building or maintaining REST/GraphQL integrations, preferably with MLS, Zillow, or similar property-data providers.
• Solid knowledge of Next.js API routes, server-side rendering, and incremental static regeneration so nothing breaks when traffic spikes.
• A habit of writing clear, well-commented code and concise pull-request notes so I can follow along quickly.
Acceptance criteria for each task:
1. New listing feed is fetched on schedule, deduped, and stored with complete metadata.
2. API keys and secrets remain outside the repo, loaded through environment variables.
3. Tests cover at least the basic happy path for each endpoint.
4. Deployment to staging succeeds with no new console errors or slower-than-usual page loads.
If you also enjoy tuning performance or strengthening security, there will be plenty of follow-up work, but right now the top priority is reliable, automated property-feed integration. Let me know your typical turnaround time for small fixes versus larger feature additions, and include a brief example of a comparable API project you’ve shipped.
