Next.js Game Platform Development

Job ID: 39819430

Budget: €12 – €18 EUR

I’m building a browser-based game platform and I need a full-stack engineer who can take charge of the entire Next.js codebase—from front-end pages to back-end API routes.

Here’s the vision
The site will host multiple casual games, manage user accounts, leaderboards and real-time multiplayer sessions. I already decided on a Next.js stack and want to keep everything in TypeScript. You’ll shape the architecture, wire up React components, set up the serverless functions inside Next.js, and connect to a MongoDB store. Smooth performance and SEO-friendly server-side rendering are must-haves.

Core responsibilities
• Build responsive pages and reusable React components in Next.js/TypeScript
• Create secure API routes for auth, player data, matchmaking and in-game actions
• Integrate real-time features (WebSocket or Socket.IO) so users can play together without lag
• Design and implement the database schema in MongoDB and establish Mongoose models
• Configure deployment (Vercel preferred, open to alternatives) with CI/CD, environment variables and monitoring
• Optimise for fast load times, accessibility and SEO

Deliverables
1. Fully functional Next.js repository hosted in a private Git repo
2. Working deployment link demonstrating user sign-up, at least one playable game, leaderboard updates and real-time play
3. README with setup, env variables and build instructions
4. Post-launch hand-off session (1-2 hours) to walk through the architecture

Acceptance criteria
• All pages render without console errors or TypeScript warnings
• API routes protected with JWT sessions and input validation
• P50 latency below 150 ms for real-time events within one region
• Lighthouse performance score ≥ 90 on desktop and mobile

If you’ve shipped production Next.js sites with real-time features before, I’d love to see them. Let’s turn this concept into a polished gaming destination.
