Mercado Pago Integration Adjustment Specialist
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
We're looking for a freelance developer to help us with important adjustments to the Mercado Pago payment integration in our booking system. Our system is built using Firebase (for the database and hosting) and Next.js (for the website).
About the System:
It's a property reservation management platform where users can make and manage their reservations and payments. We already have part of the payments functional.
Main Technologies:
Backend: Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Run/App Hosting), TypeScript.
Frontend: Next.js (React).
Payments: Mercado Pago API (Transparent Checkout).
What's already done:
The customer can initiate the payment on our website (Transparent Checkout).
The logic to initiate the payment via Mercado Pago in our system already exists.
We have a button in the control panel that allows you to turn on or off automatic Mercado Pago payments.
What we need help with (Work Focus):
Our main challenge is to make Mercado Pago payment notifications (called "webhooks") work properly. Currently, they are not being recognized correctly, which prevents reservations from being updated automatically. We need the freelancer to:
Adjust the Mercado Pago Webhook:
Resolve the notification signature validation issue (HMAC SHA256). This causes errors and prevents the system from knowing whether a payment has been approved or not.
Ensure that all payment notifications (approved, declined, etc.) are received and correctly update the reservation status in our database (Firestore).
Improve Error Logging:
Make the system better record what happens during payments, so we can more easily understand and resolve future issues.
What We're Looking for in a Freelancer:
Knowledge of system development with JavaScript/TypeScript.
Familiarity with Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Run).
Experience working with payment APIs, especially Mercado Pago (if you've worked with webhooks, that's a big plus).
Ability to troubleshoot existing code.
Communication Type: We prefer chat, with quick conversations when necessary.
Urgency: Moderate. We want to resolve this so the system can be used by customers.
Deliverable: The work will be considered complete when Mercado Pago payment notifications are working reliably.
