Full-Stack Developer (Node.js/NestJS + Next.js/React) — Join Us Building a Live Booking Platform
Hey there! We're looking for a solid full-stack developer to join us on an ongoing basis, helping build out TIPZER — a live, already-in-production PWA that connects verified companions and creators with clients across Sydney, Australia. Think real-time chat, escrow-backed bookings, an in-app wallet with its own tip/payment ledger, ID verification, and an admin dashboard behind the scenes — it's a real, working product with real users, not a prototype.
A quick heads-up: this is an 18+ platform in the adult services space, so we need someone who's comfortable with that context and takes things like age verification, discretion, and user privacy seriously. If that's not your thing, no hard feelings — but if it is, we'd love to talk.
What we're working with
Backend's built in Node.js with NestJS and TypeScript, talking to PostgreSQL through TypeORM, with Redis in the mix for caching and real-time bits. Frontend is Next.js 14 (App Router) with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Zustand for state. Chat runs over Socket.io/WebSockets. It's all organized as a Turborepo monorepo, deployed with Docker/PM2 behind Nginx on a Linux VPS. Auth is JWT-based (access + refresh tokens) with role-based permissions. Payments go through Segpay (the adult-industry-friendly processor), KYC through Veriff, and file storage sits on S3-compatible storage. It's also a proper PWA — service workers, push notifications, the works.
What you'd actually be doing
Mostly: building new features across the booking, chat, and wallet systems, designing API endpoints and NestJS modules, writing frontend UI in Next.js/Tailwind, shaping the database with TypeORM migrations, fixing bugs, and generally helping us move fast without breaking things. Every now and then you might touch deployment — restarting PM2, tweaking Nginx, that kind of thing.
Who we're hoping to find
Someone with a few years of real hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript, comfortable with NestJS (or similar — if you've done Express and are happy to adapt, that counts too), and solid on the React/Next.js side. You should know your way around PostgreSQL and an ORM, have touched Redis and WebSockets before, and have integrated third-party APIs at some point — payments, identity verification, whatever. We care more about whether you write clean, thoughtful code and communicate well async than about ticking every box on a list.
Bonus points if you've...
Worked on a marketplace, booking, dating, or adult-industry platform before. Integrated payment gateways like Segpay, CCBill, Stripe, or PayPal. Built a PWA from scratch. Worked inside a monorepo (Turborepo, Nx, whatever). Feel at home doing basic Linux server admin, Docker, or Nginx config. Think about security and privacy by default, not as an afterthought.
The arrangement
This would be an ongoing contract — part-time or full-time, whatever fits, fully remote and async-friendly. Budget's open for now — tell us your rate and how much time you've got, and let's figure out if it's a fit.
Skill tags for the listing: Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, Next.js, React, PostgreSQL, TypeORM, Redis, Socket.io, WebSockets, REST API, JWT, PWA, Tailwind CSS, Docker, Payment Gateway Integration
