Full-Stack Developer Needed for AI-Powered Study Platform (Next.js, OpenAI, RAG, Stripe)

Project Vision:
Our app aims to be a modern, intuitive platform where students can upload documents (PDF, DOCX, images.), view them, and instantly leverage AI-generated study aids like summaries, flashcards, and quizzes derived directly from the content.

A core feature will be a contextual AI chatbot (using a RAG approach) that can answer questions based specifically on the uploaded document. The platform will operate on a freemium model, offering basic functionality for free and unlocking unlimited access and advanced features via a premium subscription managed through Stripe. We also envision a feature for users to share materials publicly and explore content shared by others, categorized by subject.

We have a clear vision inspired by modern study tools (like YouLearn.ai for the UI aesthetic) and detailed requirements documentation available (including a preliminary API contract).

Scope of Work (High-Level):

We need end-to-end development, including:

Frontend Development:

Building a responsive and intuitive user interface using Next.js (App Router), React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.

Implementing key UI areas: User Dashboard, Document Viewer, Tabbed Interaction Panel (Chat, Summary, Flashcards, Quiz), Auth Pages, Settings, Premium Modals, Explore Page.

Backend Development:

Developing robust backend logic and APIs (likely using Next.js API Routes or Server Actions).

Implementing user authentication and session management integrated with Supabase Auth.

Creating a reliable asynchronous document processing pipeline: This involves handling uploads (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT) to Supabase Storage, reliably extracting all text content (including handling image-based documents requiring OCR), and tracking the processing status.

Integrating with OpenAI APIs (or similar LLMs) for generating summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and powering the chat feature.

Implementing a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline for the contextual AI chatbot, likely leveraging vector embeddings (e.g., Supabase pgvector).

Building APIs to support the public "Explore" feature (listing subjects, fetching shared materials).

Database:

Designing and implementing the database schema using Prisma on Supabase PostgreSQL.

Setting up necessary tables for users, documents, generated AI assets, subjects, chat history, and subscription status.

Implementing appropriate Row Level Security (RLS) policies.

Payment Integration:

Integrating Stripe Checkout for premium subscription plans (monthly/annual).

Implementing Stripe Webhooks to reliably handle subscription lifecycle events and update user status in the database.

Deployment & Setup:

Setting up necessary cloud services.

Configuring deployment (e.g., Vercel).

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong proficiency in Full-Stack JavaScript/TypeScript development.

Expertise in Next.js (App Router preferred) and React.

Solid experience with Node.js backend development.

Experience with Supabase: Auth, PostgreSQL, Storage.

Proven experience implementing robust document text extraction pipelines, including OCR for image-based content (PDFs, etc.). Please describe your approach or tools used in past projects.

Experience designing and implementing asynchronous background processing systems (e.g., using queues, workers, polling, or webhooks).

Experience integrating with OpenAI APIs or similar LLMs.

Understanding and ideally practical experience implementing RAG pipelines.

Familiarity with cloud storage solutions.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work from specifications.
