Complete & Launch Evangelism App (TWSS)

Job ID: 40277299

Budget: $250 – $750 AUD

Project Title

Finish and Launch Next.js + Firebase Evangelism App (TWSS)

Overview
I need an experienced full-stack developer to finish, debug, and launch a web-based evangelism app called The World Shall Be Saved (TWSS). The project is mostly built but currently unreliable due to an incomplete backend change (Firestore originally, partial PostgreSQL work). There is an older version that worked and a newer branch with partial fixes. Your job is to get it stable, working end-to-end, production-ready, and prepare it for release on Google Play and Apple App Store (via the simplest reliable approach based on the repo).

Current Stack
• Frontend: Next.js
• Auth: Firebase Authentication
• Database: Firestore (original), partial migration toward PostgreSQL (incomplete)
• Google APIs: Google Maps used for map-based features (one known bug here)

Phase 1 Scope (Must Ship)
Get these core modules fully working, stable, and deployable:
1. Movement Mode: discipleship multiplication journey (Sharer → Trainer → Ambassador → Overseer, plus networking and content steps).
2. Evangelist Mode: record decisions, onboard new believers, deliver follow-up content and steps.
3. Neighborhood Mode: Google Maps-based door-knocking tracker with geotagged homes, statuses, and team coordination visibility.
4. New Believer Journey: structured content modules with progress tracking and follow-up steps.

Key Technical Requirement
Early in the engagement you must audit the repo and recommend the fastest, lowest-risk path to production:
• Finish PostgreSQL migration, OR
• Revert to Firestore, OR
• Hybrid only if clearly justified

Primary priority is stability + time-to-ship, not over-engineering.

Known Issue to Fix
• A bug related to the Google Maps API integration.

Deliverables
• Repo audit and short written recovery plan
• Working Phase 1 modules end-to-end
• Stable database + data models
• Production deployment instructions (env vars, setup steps)
• Release-ready builds or packaging plan for Google Play + Apple App Store

Acceptance Criteria
• Users can sign up/login (Firebase Auth) and route correctly by role
• All Phase 1 modes work end-to-end without major errors
• Map loads, homes can be tracked and updated reliably, team coordination works
• Data persists correctly across sessions/devices
• App is deployable to production with clear documentation
• Store release approach is confirmed and executable

Ideal Freelancer
• Strong with Next.js, Firebase, and either Firestore or PostgreSQL
• Comfortable debugging messy/incomplete migrations
• Experience shipping to mobile stores (PWA wrapper, Capacitor, or best-fit approach)
• Clear communicator and can work with milestones and PRs

To Apply (Please Include)
1. 2–3 relevant projects (links/screenshots)
2. Your recommended approach for “Firestore vs PostgreSQL for fastest ship” (brief)
3. Confirmation you can do an initial repo audit first
4. Your proposed milestone plan and fixed-price or hourly rate

Access Provided
GitHub repo access (older working version + newer branch), Firebase/GCP access, Google Maps key access, and store account access as needed.
