Social Media, Marketing and and Scheduling Specialist

The Social Media, Marketing and and Scheduling Specialist will support the work of a Canadian marketing and communications company. The role is responsible for managing social engagement streams and email marketing/newsletters for a selection of the agency’s clients. The successful candidate will have an eye for detail and get excited about boosting audience engagement using innovative and on-message campaigns.

Social Media and Event Calendar Duties
- Develop and schedule daily posts for Facebook and Twitter, and weekly posts for Instagram
- Manage social media campaigns and recommend ways to boost audience engagement
- Source free images for posts from online sources (e.g., Unsplash.com) and a proprietary database of images
- Develop a monthly analytics report to track audience engagement and campaign results
- Post events and workshops to community calendars using their online portals

Newsletter Duties
- Create a monthly newsletter using MailChimp templates
- Recommend ways to improve/optimize the newsletter to increase efficiencies and audience engagement
- Source free images for posts from online sources (e.g., Unsplash.com) and a proprietary database of images
- Develop a monthly analytics report to track audience engagement and campaign results

Design Duties
- Design basic posters and ads (for example with Canva)

Website Update Duties
- Update website content where required
- Use basic HTML

Scheduling Duties
- Scheduling meetings upon request/where required

Proficiencies
- Strong written English language skills
- At least 2-3 years previous experience writing for online platforms, preferably newsletters and social media or online articles
- At least 1 year of experience using social media management tools, such as Tweet Deck and Facebook Publishing tools, and developing social media content for the web
- At least 1 year of experience using MailChimp for email marketing campaigns
- Experience writing about recreation, health and wellness is an asset
- Ability to manage timelines and work to deadline
- Advanced word processing skills using tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat/Reader
- Demonstrated ability to source, modify and format images, including resizing; improving brightness, saturation, etc; saving as a .jpeg; and rotating images
- Demonstrated experience using basic graphic design tools, such as Canva
- Proficient in basic HTML and website updating using a Wordpress CMS

Work Term and Compensation
- This is an ongoing part-time contract
- All tasks will be completed remotely
- Hours per week may vary between 5 and 10
- The position can start immediately
