Zero-Trust Architecture Research Support

Job ID: 40556716

Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR

# Project Title

**Research Support for Designing a Zero-Trust Architecture for Detection and Mitigation of Insider Threats in Autonomous AI Agent Ecosystems**

## Project Description

I am a final-year Computer Engineering student working on a research paper and seminar project. I am looking for an experienced cybersecurity and AI researcher to assist in developing a novel research framework on the following topic:

**"A Zero-Trust Architecture for Detection and Mitigation of Insider Threats in Autonomous AI Agent Ecosystems."**

The research focuses on securing autonomous AI agent ecosystems by applying Zero-Trust principles to detect and mitigate insider threats caused by compromised, malicious, or abnormal AI agents.

Unlike existing approaches that mainly address external attacks, this research aims to continuously evaluate agent trust, monitor behavior, and dynamically enforce security policies to prevent malicious agents from affecting the ecosystem.

## Research Problem

Autonomous AI agents increasingly collaborate without human intervention in domains such as healthcare, finance, robotics, and smart infrastructure. Current security models often assume that internal agents are trustworthy, making them vulnerable to insider attacks.

The objective is to design a Zero-Trust security architecture capable of:

* Continuously verifying every AI agent
* Monitoring behavioral patterns
* Calculating dynamic trust scores
* Detecting malicious or compromised insider agents
* Applying adaptive mitigation strategies
* Maintaining secure collaboration among autonomous agents

## Scope of Work

The freelancer should assist with the following:

* Conduct an extensive literature review (2023–2026 papers preferred)
* Identify research gaps in current Zero-Trust and AI agent security models
* Design a novel Zero-Trust Architecture for autonomous AI ecosystems
* Develop a detailed system architecture diagram
* Design trust evaluation and behavior monitoring mechanisms
* Propose insider threat detection algorithms or workflows
* Develop mitigation strategies for malicious agents
* Suggest evaluation metrics and experimental methodology
* Compare the proposed framework with existing research
* Assist in writing a high-quality research paper following IEEE standards
* Provide proper citations and references

## Expected Deliverables

* Novel research framework
* System architecture diagram
* Workflow diagrams
* Trust evaluation model
* Insider threat detection methodology
* Mitigation framework
* Algorithm or pseudocode (if applicable)
* Research methodology
* Experimental design
* Comparison tables
* Future scope

## Expected Novel Contributions

The proposed research should introduce innovative ideas such as:

* Dynamic behavior-based trust scoring
* Continuous Zero-Trust verification for AI agents
* Adaptive access control based on trust levels
* Insider threat detection using behavioral analysis
* Explainable trust decisions
* Hierarchical monitoring for scalable AI ecosystems
* Privacy-preserving behavior monitoring
* Modular architecture supporting heterogeneous AI agents

## Known Research Challenges

The proposed framework should address challenges including:

* High false positives in behavior monitoring
* Trust score calculation complexity
* Scalability for large multi-agent systems
* Adaptive and stealthy malicious agents
* Communication overhead introduced by Zero-Trust verification
* Lack of standardized AI agent security protocols
* Privacy concerns during continuous monitoring
* Cold-start trust initialization
