Temporary Windows Server Network Re-Config
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
I’m working with a Windows Server that sits behind a FortiGate 30E whose licence has lapsed. While the renewal is processed I must keep users online, so the server’s network configuration needs to be altered now and then returned to its present state once the new licence activates.
What has to happen right away:
• Capture and document the current IP address settings, DNS entries, and any relevant firewall rules on the Windows Server.
• Apply temporary changes to those same items so traffic can bypass the disabled Fortinet subscription restrictions and production stays up.
• Test connectivity thoroughly after each change.
What has to happen later (once I confirm the licence is active again):
• Roll every setting back to the exact values you documented.
• Re-verify traffic flow and confirm that no residual rules remain.
You’ll connect through Remote Desktop; physical access isn’t possible. I expect clear notes or screenshots of every setting you touch so the rollback is painless. Familiarity with Windows Server administration, PowerShell for quick exports, and general FortiGate networking concepts will make this straightforward.
