Snort Detection Rule Setup
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I’m looking for a Snort specialist who can walk me through creating and fine-tuning detection rules. I'm looking for someone that can help me with a course that I'm taking to help me not only set up the detection rules, but explain why things are used, and what they do. The why is more important than the actual rules. I need someone that can explain this to me in English. Realistically I don't think that this will take longer than 30 minutes for someone who knows what they're doing.
To help me weed out people who have no business bidding, on this, or have not read my needs, I need the first words of your bid to say "Snort like a pig". Anything else will be dismissed immediately and no future bids will be accepted for this project. I do want to stress, that again being able to communicate in English is very important. Thank you.
Edit for clarity: This is an ubuntu vm I have set up to learn linux and linux based software. You will NOT be SSHing into my machine. I have a list of questions that I can provide to you if you win that will ask you to create various snort detection rules. These can be done any time, but I will need a short call (voice only) to ask questions and have you explain various things, and allow me to test the rules you make to see if it leads to the outcome I need to correctly answer the questions I have that require me to run snort against a pcap.
Any experience you can list, or documentation that you actually know and understand snort will make it easier to decide who will be picked. And to be extremely clear just giving me the answers alone is not sufficient for this job to be completed, there needs to be a short audio call where each rule is explained on why different things were used so that I can understand it and hopefully be less dumb.
I'm currently in asia right now, keep that in mind when planning the audio call to explain the rules.
