Ongoing Server Security and Network Management
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m handing over a mixed environment—roughly ten dedicated and virtual machines—previously maintained by another engineer and I need someone who can step straight in. The stack includes Linux Servers hosting Laravel-based sites, standalone Database servers, a CPanel hosting server, plus external Web-mail and firewall appliances.
Security is my top concern. Day to day you will spend about four hours hardening every layer: keeping the kernels and PHP versions current, locking down MySQL/PostgreSQL access, tightening CPanel permissions, reviewing firewall configurations, tuning our intrusion detection systems, and feeding the logs into the SIEM so anomalies are caught early. Should something slip through, I will rely on you to be reachable around the clock, though the goal is to make that a rare event through prevention.

• Server security, database security, and network management across all machines
• Continuous firewall configurations, IDS signature updates, and SIEM rule-sets
• Scheduled backups and restore tests, SSL/TLS renewals, user-access reviews, and routine penetration checks
• A concise weekly report that notes applied patches, incidents detected, and any recommendations for the following week
The budget is set at about $300 per month; consistency and reliability are more important to me than clock-watching. If you are comfortable owning the environment end-to-end with minimal hand-holding, let’s talk so we can arrange a smooth transition from the current engineer.
