Ethical Hacker: DoS Mitigation Consultation

Job ID: 40551566

Budget: $8 – $15 USD

I run a mid-sized company with publicly exposed services and a growing user base. Before traffic spikes any further, I want an experienced ethical hacker to examine our network security posture—specifically how well we can withstand denial-of-service attacks.

You’ll work with the current infrastructure, which consists of routers and switches at the core, a pair of next-generation firewalls, and several wireless access points that bridge internal teams to the production VLAN. I can provide topology diagrams, current ACLs, firewall policies, and live traffic captures as soon as we kick off.

What I need from you is a practical, vendor-agnostic assessment that tells me exactly where the DoS weak spots sit and how to close them without disrupting day-to-day operations. Feel free to employ standard penetration-testing techniques, traffic replay, or lab-based DDoS simulation tools such as LOIC/HOIC, hping3, or commercial test suites—whatever gives the most accurate picture.

Deliverables
• A concise assessment report summarising findings, risk levels, and exploited vectors
• A step-by-step mitigation plan covering configuration hardening, rate limiting, and monitoring improvements
• Recommended IDS/IPS signatures or third-party services (Scrubbing centres, WAF rules, cloud-based DDoS protection) tailored to our size and budget
• A 30-minute debrief call to walk the team through your recommendations and answer questions

I’m ready to start immediately and can grant VPN access to a staging environment on request. Let me know your preferred testing windows, methodology outline, and the estimated timeframe for each milestone so we can lock in the schedule.
