Enterprise Network Configuration Specialist
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I’m looking for a seasoned engineer who can step in and take full ownership of our enterprise-grade routing, switching, and security stack. The backbone of the environment is Cisco IOS, and the critical protocols in production are BGP and OSPF. You’ll be working directly on the routers, switches, and firewalls that tie multiple sites together, tightening security while ensuring high availability and clean fail-over.
Scope of work
• Analyse the current topology and identify weaknesses in routing, redundancy, and ACL design.
• Re-architect and apply new configurations across all Cisco IOS devices, making certain BGP and OSPF tables converge quickly and predictably.
• Harden the perimeter: refine firewall policies, recommend or deploy IDS/IPS settings, and validate encryption best practices.
• Provide clear, version-controlled documentation and updated network diagrams for future maintenance. Palo Alto or Fortinet exposure is welcome, as these platforms may be pulled into a later phase.
Acceptance criteria
• No routing loops; all prefixes propagate correctly across BGP and OSPF.
• Measurable improvement in fail-over time (targets supplied on project start).
• Firewall rule set passes agreed security checklist with zero critical findings.
• All configs and diagrams delivered in both raw and human-readable formats.
If you’ve repeatedly delivered projects of similar complexity and can speak fluently about subtle IOS quirks, NAT order of operations, and best-practice segmentation, I’d love to hear how you’d approach this engagement and your typical timelines.
