Course Project Network Security Penetration, Detection, and Forensics
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need help completing a Network Security lab project using virtual machines.
Requirements:
* Setup a local VM lab (Kali Linux + Ubuntu Server)
* Deploy vulnerable application (OWASP Juice Shop using Docker)
* Perform basic penetration testing (nmap, scanning, etc.)
* Capture traffic using Wireshark/tcpdump
* Implement Snort IDS with at least one custom rule
* Provide screenshots of all steps
* Assist with packet analysis and correlation
Deliverables:
* Screenshots of setup, attacks, and results
* Evidence of packet capture (pcap files)
* Snort rule and alert output
* Basic explanation of findings
Important:
* Work must be done on local VMs (NOT cloud/EC2)
* Must follow structured steps and produce realistic results
* Deadline: 3 days
