Optimize Hybrid Azure-AVD Setup

Budget: $2 – $8 CAD

I need an Azure-savvy engineer to take a close look at my on-prem / Azure hybrid environment and squeeze cost and every bit of performance out of it for both local and remote users.

Current landscape
• One Azure Virtual Desktop host that also serves one application.
• Two on-prem Hyper-V app servers; the same app is reached through mapped drives controlled by GPO.
• Connection between sites is a site-to-site VPN.

Scope of work
Identify latency, bandwidth, or routing bottlenecks and quantify their impact.
revisiting GPO drive-map strategy, or enabling AVD FSLogix / profile
Fix the intermittent GPO processing issues
Validate that speed of data access, reliability, and user experience all show measurable gains.
5. Document and hand over a clear plan with roll back option

Acceptance criteria
• Documented latency and throughput metrics before vs. after, with at least a 30 % improvement across WAN and a noticeable reduction in user complaints.
• Updated diagrams and configuration notes for Azure, Hyper-V, VPN, and GPO changes.
• A brief training call walking me through the optimizations.

You’ll likely lean on tools such as Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, Wireshark, PerfMon, and Group Policy Results. If you’ve engineered seamless Azure-on-prem hybrids before, especially with AVD, I’d love to see your plan of attack.
Please note, this is in use environment as I don't have any test environment, so the changes and work need to be done online with shared screen to avoid credential sharing and also making sure no change destabilize the work environment
